OK so Corian is a work surface. It's very pretty, can be made in any shape, comes in many colors, and looks more expensive than Formica (and is!). However, a few don'ts. Don't put anything hot on it, because it will make a mark. Oh yes, and don't cut on it, because it will scratch. Also, be careful not to spill anything on it because you have to use chemicals to wipe it clean. If you just use water and a paper towel the water beads and the surface is left with smears. Well, I guess that pretty much rules it out as a work surface. BUT, if you only eat take-out and if what you are looking for is a pretty surface that looks and is expensive, then Corian is the one for you! Actually, the people who introduced this product are either unbelievably stupid or unbelievably deceitful.

Corian is terrible. I've had it for about 6 months. We are 2 adults of retirement age with no children. Marks easily even if you wipe it right away. Finish looks old. Scratches easily. We lay towels under everything and are very careful. It is useless! Very sorry I bought it. DON'T BUY CORIAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, the one piece material is welded together, that's Corian type solid surface. When we speak of Solid surfaces we are also talking about materials like quartz counter tops that can't be welded together like Corian. These products have a lot of advantages, the main ones are decoration, you can have a wide range of colors to pick from.
