I think you will have problems with the installation. Why don’t you use laminate countertops instead? Laminate countertops are beautiful and affordable. Here is more information:

I have done some data gathering related to the laminate floor since I want to use such floor in my kitchen. However, I still feel doubt about it. Do you think it will stand against the water?

This is a great article! Our family is totally into laminate floors now. We initially leaned towards hardwood at first but after seeing how great they look and how easy they are to install, we were totally sold. Of course the price didn’t hurt either!
