Thanks for all the helpful tips. I really appreciate such a detailed review. I have gotten burned before when remodeling my old home. I just recently purchased a new home and am in the process of starting a kitchen remodel and am looking to do any and every thing to avoid the nightmares we faced last time. I will have to apply these tips to finding my new contractor for my kitchen remodel.

Good article. However, as far as building codes are required… your local building department will look over the plans when the permit is applied for and will ensure that the plan is followed by inspecting the jobsite.
